What is the QTL™ Model?

The QTL™ Model is a seven-day professional development experience that puts educators into a model classroom environment, and brings educational theories to life through the use of practical activities that connect their instructional practices, curriculum and technology tools.

The first five days of a QTL™ Cycle are conducted in a Center for Quality Teaching & Learning™. Participants attend in teams, each made up of 4-6 teachers and administrators from the same school. Each Cycle may include 3-4 teams from different schools. Day 6 of QTL™ is spent planning a collaborative project tied to participants' own School Improvement Plan. Day 7 is an on-site assessment of the project and planning session for carrying the work forward.

The QTL™ Model may be conducted two ways:

• The Guided Practice Approach unfolds over several weeks. Teams attend Days One through Five one day each week for five weeks, then plan and conduct their collaborative projects (Days Six & Seven) over the weeks that follow. This is the approach most schools use during the school year, because it spreads out the time teachers are away from the classroom, and also gives them time and space to use what they've learned between sessions.
  
• The Immersion Approach is conducted over five consecutive days, with collaborative projects planned and executed in the weeks that follow. This approach is used primarily during the summer months.
