Welcome to the Arkansas Digital Media page. We would like to introduce you to a program that has been accepted by the Department of Career Education to be used with the Digital Communications course.
A curriculum team, led by ExplorNet Instructional Specialist and long-time Arkansas Business Educator, Angela McCallie, developed Digital Media to create a career path - including student certifications - for students in digital arts. The two-level Digital Media framework aligns with the four-level Digital Communications framework. Every item in the Digital Media framework is contained in the Digital Communications framework. Digital Media and its second level - Advanced Digital Media - provide Arkansas Digital Communications teachers with:
Digital Media is designed to develop students' knowledge and skill and prepare them to obtain up to six industry-recognized certifications. The Arkansas Frameworks link on the right side of this page show alignment with the six certifications as well as to the current Digital Communications framework. The Adobe Certified Associate certifications are in the areas of creative digital design, including graphic design, animation development, audio and video production, and web design. Students are offered the opportunity to gain experience working with industry-standard software and technology in order to succeed in the digital workplace. Every year as technologies and software advances in the industry, ExplorNet updates and maintains the course materials to reflect what students will experience when they enter the workforce. Fees: The annual school subscription fee of $525.00 is for the first teacher and $100.00 for each additional teacher in the school. This subscription includes access to the Moodle system, updated curriculum, teacher and student resources, classroom assessments, the PLC, class activities, as well as information on changes to the certification requirements that may occur. Most teachers say this is a very inexpensive replacement for textbooks that quickly become out of date. Additional fees apply for training. They will be specified in appropriate communications and registration forms. The Digital Media program is currently structured and sequenced into two course offerings, which accomplish the same goals as the 2011 Arkansas Frameworks:

ExplorNet provides the professional development required to add the Digital Media/Communications program area endorsement (Digital Communications) to your Arkansas teaching license. Teachers will receive 5 days of focused preparation. All of the software required to teach this course can be mastered during this training. In addition to learning curriculum and instruction, they will also learn to use our accompanying Moodle system effectively in their classroom. Moodle provides access to all teaching resources as well as student resources which negates the need for expensive textbooks for each student, or classroom set.
Teachers who have previously taught Digital Communications and who already know the Adobe software can receive 2 days of training on the curriculum, certifications, Moodle learning management system and professional learning community which links them to other Digital Media instructors.
